ABOUT EAST END
BEACH GLASS
East End Beach Glass uses unique beach glass found along the north shore of Long Island, New York to make one of a kind handmade jewelry. The glass is washed ashore by the waves of the Long Island Sound, an estuary situated between coastal Connecticut and Long Island. The pH and salinity of the water here allows crystals to form upon the glass, making the pieces distinctive to the area. The constant motion of the water smoothes and polishes each piece, resulting in the beautiful glass that we use for our quality jewelry.

The Long Island Sound has a rich history that shines in each piece of glass used in our jewelry. Before the New England colonies were settled, the Native Americans that inhabited Long Island would cross the Sound to trade with other tribes along the coast. In the seventeenth century, the settlers that made their homes on Long Island were linked to other New England colonies such as Boston by the Sound. Because the water here forms a bottleneck protected from the Atlantic Ocean, many of the pieces used in our handmade jewelry are antique pieces of glass that have washed up on the shores from decades past.

East End Beach Glass creator Gerarda Boger hunts the north shore of eastern Long Island, collecting glass for her jewelry creations. All of the glass is hand-selected from the private beaches that are nestled between the Sound and the towering bluffs that overlook the water. Each piece is custom designed and handcrafted.
